Dear Mr. Patel-Schneider:

	Among people who have attended both, opinions differ about
the relative merits of conferences in hotels and universities.
Perhaps the middle aged, like me, tend to prefer hotels.  However,
students, university faculty and people from industry attend regardless
of whether their preference has been chosen.  The key question for
a conference is having a good program adequately presented.

	Many of your specific criticisms are well taken, and I have
transmitted your letter to Elaine Rich, the Local Arrangements
Chairman of the next conference, which will be held at the University
of Texas in Austin.  No doubt she will do what she can, but I suspect
that few of the matters that bother you will turn out to be actually
subject to her control.
